MOSCOW, Jan. 10, Reuter: Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has proposed a summit meeting with China, saying both sides were now ready for this, the official news agency TASS reported on Sunday.
The proposal came in an interview with the Chinese weekly Liaowang, a TASS report of which was read on the main television news.
“It would be a logical development, in our view, to hold a Soviet Chinese summit. Judging by all comments, both sides realize the objective necessity of this. To meet each other, we can find mutually acceptable solutions ~ we are sure of what”, TASS quoted Gorbachey as saying.
