NEW DELHI: Indian customs officials caught a Pakistani national attempting to juggle into the country about three kilograms of gold valued at 9 lakh rupees.
The Pakistani national Sarfraz Ahmed -was detained in the transit lounge of the Indira Gandhi international airport here, customs sources said.
The sources said Ahmed was carrying 25 gold biscuits of 10 tolas each -14 in the false bottom of his brief case and 11 inside his shoes.
He confessed that he was to deposit these in a toilet in the transit lounge, from where a local contact was expected to collect them, the sources added.
Ahmed, who was traveling on an unusual route from Hong Kong to Dubai via Delhi, also confessed that he had carried out a similar operation a few days ago on February 9 the sources said.
Ahmed was produced in court Tuesday and has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
