The entire Sikh Nation commemorated Ghalughara week on June 3,1993. Akkand Paths, pro test meetings, demonstrations were held all the world over in memory of those who laid down their lives protecting the sanctity of Sri Darbar Sahib complex in Amritsar including and not limiting to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, General Shahbeg Singh, Bhai Amrik Singh and others, but also those thousands of innocent men, women and children who had come to pay homage to the first martyr and compiler of Sri Ad Granth whose martyrdom day fell on that day when Indira Gandhi, intoxicated with power unleashed the state’s most powerful repressive machinery.
The single event marked the beginning of Brahmin’s open policy of “teaching Sikhs a lesson” and whatever happened thereafter and is still continuing is known to all the world.
Recently, in a section of the ethnic press, there have been references to lack of or complete absence of any such ceremonies in Punjab. Journalists like Tavieen Singh have stated that it happens to be the first year in a decade when Sant Jarnail Singh’s “shadow does not loom over Punjab.” She also stated that his “dream that the foundation stone of Khalistan will be laid the day the army attacks the Golden Temple’ is now dead. And, what remains of the militant armies he left behind is little more than a scattered group of gunmen.”
This viewpoint of this young journalist does not surprise me, She is, in fact, following exactly in the footsteps of her mentor and notorious Sikh writer from Delhi, Khushwant Singh. They both wear colored glasses simply to see whatever they want to see and not the truth.
I challenge Talveen Singh to arrange with the help of her Brah min masters, the pull out of army, B.S.F., C.R.P.F, and other para military forces from Punjab and then discover for herself the truth in her statement. [tis a well-established and documented fact (if, in doubt, read reports of Asia Watch, Amnesty International) that present Punjab is an occupied territory by the Brahmin coterie of Delhi and people like her, Khushwant Singh, PatwantSingh, and General Aurora to name a few, are dancing to his tune. Visitors returning from Punjab, con firm the indignities one has to go through at the hands of India’s occupying security forces while traveling.
Talveen Singh and many of her cohorts would be well advised to lake a crash course in Sikh History (which I am sure she did not study while in school) and discover for themselves how after Banda Singh Bahadur was martyred in Delhi in June 1716, Sikhs lay low and reorganized themselves. Between 17651781 they conquered Delhi 15 times. In 1781,S.Baghel Singh hoisted the Sikh Kesri flag on Red Fort in Delhi. In closing, I can assure Tavieen Singh that she has not seen the last of it and in her lifetime and to her disappointment, she will see the establishment of Sovereign State of “Khalistan.”
