Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister Butros Ghali addressed the U.N. General Assembly last Tuesday after taking the oath as secretary- general. Ghali, 69,  who helped work out Egypt’s peace accord with Israel in 1979, pledged to tackle the economic problems of the Third World. He will begin his five-year term January 1, succeeding Javier Perez de Cuellar.
