BONN, GERMANY: The government said October 11 it wants Mikhail Gorbachev to attend this weekend’s state funeral for former Chancellor Willy Brandt and likely would ask the Russian government to allow the former Soviet president to travel.
Russia’s Constitutional Court earlier this month banned Gorbachev from leaving the country after he refused to testify at a landmark trial on the fate of the Communist Party, which he led from 1985 until August 1991,
