MADRAS: Chief Minister Jayalalitha who is also general secretary of ALADMK has urged the Center (o ensure adequate safeguards for the poor Indian farmers in the wake of the proposal contained in the Dunkel draft to do away with subsidies. The farmers apprehend that the prices of fertilizers and improved varieties of seeds would shoot up as a result of the Dunkel proposals. The Center should take necessary steps 10 make available the agricultural inputs and subsidies as al present.
