NEW DELHI: A statement on the Gulf war by Congress-I president Rajiv Gandhi, calling for immediate convening of the U.N. Security Council has been circulated to 29 heads of state and government.
Romesh Bhandari, convener of the foreign affairs department at the AICC, told newsmen the world leaders included those from five permanent members of the Security Council
The statement has been addressed personally to the leaders by Gandhi.
Party spokesman M J Akbar said the Congress-I would continue to register its protest at the continued grant of refueling facilities to American military aircraft at Indian airports.
The Congress-I has been making a strident demand for immediate suspension of these facilities.
