A fund raiser was held for the Lt. Governor Leo McCarthy by the San Jose Sikh Community at the Ghuman ranch According to Attorney Mohinder S. Mann of The Mann Law Firm “The event was a great success.”
The event drew over 150 members and guests of the Sikh community including a close friend of the Lt. Governor Santa Clara County’s Assistant Sheriff Ruben Diaz. Mr. Diaz has been working closely with Mann in curbing the discrimination and hate crimes leveled against the Sikh community since the start of the Gulf war.
Commission Darshan Singh a close friend of Leo McCarthy was introduced by Mr Mann as one Individual who has done more than any other in integrating the Sikh community into mainstream California politics.
“I am pleased to be here and support the exciting things that the Sikh community is trying to do in getting involved in the political process” said an enthusiastic Lt Governor McCarthy as he was given a standing ovation when he entered the hall.
Santa Clara County Supervisor Ron Gonzales was given the task of introducing the Lt. Governor. He expressed his admiration to the Sikh community for their efforts in getting involved in civic affairs.
The more we get involved with these type of events the more our community will benefit in the long run with issues and concerns that affect us” said a very elated Mann. Mann said that he was hoping that McCarthy would seek the US. Senate seat to be vacated by the outgoing Senator Cranston. Since the fundraiser Lt. Governor Leo McCarthy has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. Mann said that the Sikh community in already geared up for this election.
