LOS ANGELES: The construction of Gurdwara in Hollywood, popularly known as ‘Vermont Gurdwara in nearing to its completion. Once work was suspended, but now looks in February Sangat will be again enjoying the Kirtan and bliss of Waheguru in the new monumental building.
On September 29, the fundraiser dinner was hosted in the residence of 1.8.Chhokar “Khan’ while the delicious food seva was provided by Gill of Gill’s Cuisine, LA.
A special committee has been formed of 5 persons to raise the money and loan if needed. ‘The loans would be personally guaranteed by these S members. The loan given by Sangat shall be interest free for two years. These members are Dr. A.S. Marwah; Dr. Jasbir S. Mann, Ajit S. Randhava, Jaswant S.Chhokar “Khan’ and T.S. Gill, $200,000.00 were raised in donations and loan, although the spirit was to give donations mainly.
Dr. Marwah assured the gathering that he would put in his best to bring the Gurdwara on the list of historical monuments of L.A. city. This will ensure the all the tourist’s buses would make slop over at the Gurdwara. Architechically it will be a monument. Important it is as this is central in location from all the adjacent areas. Historically it is the oldest in L.A.
Mr Randhava, a reputed engineer, explained the technical aspects to the gathering about 250 persons attend the function.
