AMRITSAR: The Akali Federation feels that the government has never been interested in holding elections in Punjab and that these will not be held at all.

The dates of elections in Punjab had not been finalised though the poll process had been sent in motion to gain political mileage Mr Kanwar Singh the Akal Federation chief said here on Tuesday.

He pointed out that the difficulty of the militant outfits sitting together for deliberations would not stand in the way of their taking a proper decision at the right time and that the Akali Federation knew the viewpoints of these outfits on all vital matters.

He however said that everyone irrespective of religious political or symbol affiliations could file nomination papers on certain conditions and the militants would issue a list of their approved candidates one month before the polling.

Mr Kanwar Singh said that candidates who had made a contribution towards the cause of Khalistan would have a claim to the militants support.
