NEW DELHI (PT1): The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) has registered a case here against former chief minister of the southern state of Kamataka, S.Bangarappa and two others, including a top bureaucrat, in the “classic computers” deal on charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy and other offences. ‘The CBI first information report, registered on March 31 has accused Bangarappa, the former chief secretary, J Alexander, and V.Gokul Krishna, the person who was to supply 100 Apple Macintosh Computer system to Kamataka government.

‘The charges against the three including cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy under the Indian penal code and corruption under the prevention of corruption act.

In Kamataka state capital, Bangalore, a team of CBI sleuths interrogated Bangarappa for several hours in connection with the deal, the officers also interrogated Alexander.

The present Kamataka government under Veerappa Moily entrusted the controversial computer purchase scam to a CBI probe, while Bangarappa and Alexander secured anticipatory bail.
