This letter was written as a grade 13 English assignment for school (in Ontario) by Gursev Singh. The assignment was to write an imaginary letter from any person to anyone. This satirical letter portrays Rajiv Gandhi’s shrewd and cunning Hindu regime in India and his incapability and immature behavior in handling international relationships.

Dear Mom,
I hope you are fine down there. I am fine here on earth travelling in my bullet proof car; though I admit it is a bit hot and uncomfortable with this bullet proof vest you left back for me.
Mom, with your blessings I am continuing the work that you had left behind uncompleted. I have imposed a few more “Black” Laws that will help us to persecute the minorities in India (especially the Sikhs). Our army, deployed in the Punjab (northern India) has become a bunch of marksmen; taking into consideration all the practice they got taking potshots at young Sikhs. Well, nowadays we don’t even have to use the word “Sikh”. [have done such good propaganda that the media only has to say, “Suspected Terrorist Shot Dead” and the public knows that it must have been a Sikh.
After your personal super intelligence agency, The Third Agency, failed due to its exposure by some intellectual Hindu and Sikh I decided I would have to do something new to take care of the situation. Therefore I created the “Red Brigade’. It is based on the “The Dirty Dozen” movie series. In this brigade I have recruited all the murderers, rapists, dacoits, etc. whom I released from prison on the condition that they do as they are told by the Government of India, All they have to do is wear a turban and grow their beard, then go out and shoot some Hindus in the streets and buses. The government provides them with the money, transport and weapons for these killings. (This is just like your Third Agency, except that this is done in a more sophisticated way). All these killings and murders (done by the government’s genius planning) are then blamed on the Sikhs so that the army and police can murder more Sikhs by taking potshots at them. Even the Hindu mobs help us by burning the Sikhs alive, raping their women and burning their Gurdwaras (temples). By the way, I am doing the same with the Muslims and other minorities but with a little variation. I know that you will love this ingenuity of mine very much. You are proud of me, aren’t you Mom?
Well, I have a little bit of a complaint against Ronald Reagan, Mom. When I visited him in June 1985 to ask him not to supply Pakistan with all the sophisticated weapons, he told me to get out and mind my own business. I was insulted, Mom; I felt like crying and since I could not sit on your lap, I went to Moscow. It was against the protocol but I was desperate, Mom. At Moscow they consoled me a bit, but not much. I miss you Mom,. I miss you!
Anyway, Ronald Reagan will be there with you soon, I think; then you can get even with him for doing that to me. .
Hope to see you soon, Mom. Your ever following son, Rajiv Gandhi.
