DEORAHA BABA, A Hindu saint in Mathura, is much sought after by politicians on the eve of every election. The Baba blesses them by placing his foot on their heads. He stays on a nine foot platform and hangs his leg for his devotees. This, it is claimed brings good luck.

Rajiv Gandhi has sought his blessings. Even Home Minister Buta Singh got the Baba’s blessings after the shilanyas in Ayodhya.

Bhajan Lal, Balram Jakhar and N.D. Tiwari have also held the Baba’s feet on their heads.

Deoraha Baba was among the top religious leaders at the Kumbhmela last year. These leaders gave the original call for the building of the Ram temple at Ayodhya.
