CHANDIGARH: A secret order allegedly issued by UT Home Secretary Sanjay Kothari. on May 25 asking for censorship of telegraphic messages and other postal articles Coming to and emanating from different Akall Dals and mililants organizations and their frontal bodies have caused a flutter in political circles here. Besides various Akal Dals Val Khalsa Raj Party National Council of Khalistan and their front Organizations whose articles have to be censored the order also names the Central Coordination Committee of Local Gurdwaras Sikh Lawyers Forum All India Sikh Students Federation Punjab Bhachau Morcha and the Anand Marg. Inderjit Singh Jaijee of the Movement Against State Repression (MASR) who is in possession of the document however claimed that the document was authentic and he would move the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday. He also alleged that telephone calls of the persons associated with the above organizations were also being tapped. The order states that poster ankles and telegraphic messages addressed to or emanating from these organizations shall be detained and forwarded to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (CID) of UT. And the USP would return the same to postal and telegraphic authorities for delivery such postal as are intercepted in accordance with this officer order.”

The order also authorizes the police to withhold any document and message “permanently” in the interest of public safety.
