CANDIGARH, India: Gunmen shot at and wounded five persons and looted Rs. 49,000 indifferent incidents, Amritsar police arrested a Sikh freedom fighter carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head in Punjab. Four persons were injured, three of them seriously when gunmen resorted to firing in the main bazar of Moga in Faridkot district. According to official information the victims were returning to their homes after closing the shops when they were shot at. Gunmen managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Three of the injured were rushed to Ludhiana Civil Hospital and fourth was discharged after first aid, Those injured were identified as Tony, Goverdhan Lal, Bishan Lal and Chaman Lal, a telephone operator who was discharged after first aid. Soon after the C.R.P.F. men swung into action and cordoned off the area and apprehended one of the gunmen, who were trying to sneak out of the area. He was handed over to the police Amritsar police has arrested Balkar Singh who carried a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head. District Police Chief, Mohd Fzhar Alam said that Balkar Singh belonged to a local group of freedom fighters and was wanted in eight cases of murder and robbery. He was arrested from the Patti area.
