NEW DELHI, India: At least five people were killed and one injured when a section of a one-mile-long river bridge in the western resort state of Goa collapsed Saturday, the Press Trust of India said,
‘The domestic news agency quoted witnesses as saying a fisherman hit by falling concrete and four people riding motor-bikes lost their lives in the accident. The toll may rise as a search by divers and firemen proceeded.
The one-mile-long bridge, opened in 1970, is located in the tiny coastal state of Goa, a major tourist center 350 miles southwest of New Delhi.
‘There was no immediate indication as to the cause of the incident but government-run television quoted state authorities as saying they did not rule out sabotage.
