NEW DELHI, India: A bomb found at an army firing range and sold to a scrap dealer: ‘exploded in a village near the city of Gwalior, killing five people and injuring eleven others, the Press Trust of India reported Sunday.

The domestic news agency said the incident occurred Saturday in Dangrau, a village near Gwalior, 170 miles south of New Delhi.

AN unexploded bomb found at the Singhpur Army Firing Range and sold to a scrap merchant blew up as he attempted to extract some of its copper parts, the Press Trust said quoting police.

Five people, including two children died in the blast and eleven. Were injured and admitted to a hospital, four in serious condition, Police said.

The Press Trust said villagers ‘often ignore official warnings and collect material from the firing range to sell to scrap dealers.

Police officials have ordered an investigation into the explosion, the news agency said.
