Dacca: Three bogeys were gutted by a fire that broke out in a running train going from Khulna to Parbati in Bangladesh. Twenty-seven persons died and 52 were seriously wounded. There were about 300 passengers in the affected bogeys. According to investigating officials, the fire was suspected to be started by an electric short circuit. Number of injured persons was picked up by the villagers from near the track. Many passengers were injured when they jumped out of the moving train to save themselves from the fire. No explanation has as yet been given as to why the train kept on moving while the fire was blazing in the bogeys. The injured have been admitted to hospitals. This accident is the first of its kind in Bangladesh.
