ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN: A spectacular blaze destroyed the heart of Pakistan’s parliament building on Nov.9, four days before legislators were to choose a new president in the white marble building.
The fire burned for more than six hours, consuming the National Assembly chamber, galleries and many offices in the six story structure. The building was empty because of a holiday.
