BOMBAY (PTI): Hindi cinemas most polished villain and swashbuckling hero of yesteryears Premnath acclaimed for his performance in “Johnny Mera Naam” Nov. 3 died after a cardiac arrest at his residence off Nepean Sea Road in south Bombay Indias Hollywood He was 65.

Born in the northwest frontier province of Peshawar in 1927 the actor who was ailing for quite some-time breathed his last at 1030 hours (0500 hrs gmt).

Premnath made his mark in the tinsel world as a hero in “Ajeet” opposite Monica Desai in 1948 followed by “Shokhiyan” and “Naujawan” and shot into limelight in Mehboob Khans “Aan” released in 1952. He acted in over 250 films.

His other notable films were “Badal” “Aag” “Barsaat” “Insaniyat.” He made a hit pair with his actress wife Bina Rai in “Chengez Khan.”
