CHANDIGARH: A secret police report alleging certain financial irregularities against certain Punjab police officers has vanished from chief secretary’s office according to reliable sources.
The report was sent vide letter No 135 PA dated 27.8.91 by Director-General Police S.Mangat the Financial Commissioner Home who had sent it to the Chief Secretary.
The report prepared by Inspector-General Police Punjab had accused Jalandhar Range D.I.G G.I.S Bhuller Amritsar S.S.P. Sanjiv Gupta SP. Rajinder Singh and S.P Nirmal Singh Dhillion of financial deals with a private finance company running into about Rs. 10 million.
The report created a stir in administrative circles with public expecting action against the government denied the existence of the enquiry report itself.
Meanwhile according to reliable sources the Panjab PCCI chief Beant Singh sought to put pressure on the Director-General Police not to proceed with the investigations without solid material Beant Singh evidently supported the police officers stand the report would irreparably tarnish there image.
