CHANDIGARH: The Akali Dal (Badal) has won all four of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) seats including one reserved for women in Kapurthala district of Punjab. The returning officers of Kapurthala, Bholath and Phagwara on Wednesday announced the results of the SGPC elections held on October 13. In Kapurthala, Retd. Major Jiwan Singh (Akali Dal Badal) defeated Mr. Harbans Singh (Akali Dal Amritsar) by a margin of 8385 votes and in the reserved seat for woman; Ms. Bhajan Kaur (Akali Dal Badal) defeated MS Jaswinder Kaur (Akali Dal Amritsar) by 6989 votes. In Bholath constituency, Ms. Jagir Kaur (Akali Dal Badal) won by a margin of 15052 votes defeating her nearest rival Dr. Parminder Jit Singh of Akali Dal (Panthic), In Moga, and the Akali Dal Badal has won all seven seats in the SGPC elections, according to an official declaration of Wednesday.
