LONDON (PTI): Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah has dismissed as “baseless” and “mere speculation” reports in a section of the British media that he has quit polities und gone to ground in the UK,

“I have no intention of quitting politics. 1am on holiday in Britain and will soon return to Kashmir,” Abdullah said,

The national conference leader said “I stand firm on my position that peace will return to Jammu and Kashmir, lam hopeful that the government of India will initiate negotiations with the people of Kashmir for restoration of nor malty in the state,” He expressed the hope that after the Monsoon session of parliament, the government of India will have more time to sort out the problem of Kashmir.

A story in ‘The Daily Telegraph’ on Aug.21 said that “he is quitting politics to take up medical practice in Britain,” Abdullah said his children are studying in the UK and he has come here to spend holiday with them. “There is no question of my taking up medical practice here,” he said.
