KURUKSHETRA: Bansi Lal, President of the Haryana Vikhas Party (HVP), criticized the Haryana Gov- emment for overlooking the farmers’ interests. While addressing a gathering at Partapgarh village near here, Bansi Lal alleged that the farmers were being forced to sell their paddy at a throw-away price in the grain markets, in the absence of procurement agencies.
He said that the farmers were bearing huge losses as their produce was being purchased at a rate of about Rs 25 below the support price. Apart from this the paddy was affected due to the recent spell of rain, he added. Bansi Lal promised to provide employment opportunities on the basis of merit apart from filling the SC and Backward class quota.
He criticized Devi Lal for abandoning the Dadupur-Nalwi canal project launched by him in 1988 and assured the canal would be completed within two years if he was voted to power. Ved Pal, general secretary, Abhey Ram Dahiya, organizing secretary, Sahib Saini, district president, Ishwar Singh, MLA, and Manphool Singh Ralmiki also addressed the gathering.
