NEW DELHI: Police sources reported that Swaran Singh, a militant of ‘Khalistan Commando Force’ (Panjwar) was killed and a police head constable was injured in an encounter near village Rahimpur in Jalandhar district,

Two militants, including Nahar Singh alias Nahra, amilitantofthe Khalistan Liberation Force, were killed in an encounter near village Hanskalan in Jagraon police dis tic Two bombs and two hand grenades were recovered.

Jagdish Singhalias Disha listed militant of the Babbar Khalsa, was killed in a gun battle with the police near Begowal village of Majitha police district.

In another encounter, a militant Tarlok Singh, was killed near Sant Nagar city of Gurdaspur,

Five militants were arrested after an encounter with police near village Sandoha in Bathinda district.

They were identified as Jasbir Singh, Rohi Singh, Balkaran Singh, Chand Singh and Kuldeep Singh,

Four militants Kashmir Singh, Pargat Singh, Borh Singh and Balbir Singh  were arresied in Fanidkot district.

Three militants were apprehended near Patiala and one in ‘Bathinda district,

Well informed sources report that the Punjab police drive against militant continues and despite their claim of having eliminated militancy, many dedicated militants are just lying low as a part of a deliberate plan to allow weeding out of undesired elements which had infiltrated’ into the militant cadres. The police have in their custody many youth suspected of pro Khalistan sympathies whom they are systematically eliminating in false encounters. The police have drawn up lists of pro Khalistan supporters and especially those killed by security forces. The surviving members of these families are being watched by the police.
