FARIDKOT: The Faridkot Senior Superintendent of Police, Swaran Singh, has been granted extension for another year, the second time after he attained the age of superannuation in June, 1990. The decision was taken by Punjab govt on a proposal from Mr. D.S. Mangat, Director General of Police. It is learned that the state home department has now started feeling the necessity of evolving a uniform policy guiding the decisions on extensions, promotions and appointment of police officers. Until now proposals emanating from the police chief are ap- proved by the Governor almost as a routine send any report or recommendations or even a reference in such cases. The Deputy Commissioner has therefore nothing to do with this decision.
