PUNE (PTI): Six persons were killed and 31 others injured when some packages of army ammunition exploded at the railway station here April 21.

The injured have been admitted to local hospitals here.

Three of them, a woman and two children are in a serious condition with severe bums.

The blast occurred when two of the 58 boxes of ammunition had been offloaded from a stationary passenger train at platform number two at around 1315 IST hours, ‘The roof top of the platform and some railway stalls were extensively damage in the explosion. ‘The luggage van carrying the remaining ammunition, however, remained intact, averting large-scale destruction of the premises The gunpowder consignment from an ordnance factory had been loaded in the Pun bound train Tuesday night and was to be transported an ammunition factory here Wednesday, railway police said.
