Sir,

Wahe Guru ji Ka Khalsa

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fatch!

I have always considered the World Sikh News as a very important Sikh institution. I fully realize utmost need of good quality Sikh media especially in English. I always wish and pray for improvement and growth of World Sikh News. But this can happen only if you are willing to adhere to principles of his quality and fair journalism.

I am extremely disturbed at article (by an anonymous author) “Aulakh warned” appeared in August 1691 issue of your newspaper. You have broken all principles of fairness by publishing these vicious allegations without giving an important Sikh (if you are unwilling to consider him a leader) personality to respond to this kind of character assassination. Your paper has failed on many occasions by not giving necessary coverage to achievements of other organizations excepting few persons affiliated with WSO. You did not even cover important events like CNN and National Press interviews of Aulakh. So his resentment towards you is justified although I do not approve of any one calling you Indian agent. I also sometimes don’t agree with him on many issues that I completely respect him and endorse his contributions to Sikh struggle.

I am not against healthy criticism but it should be fair and other side should be given chance to respond and let people decide who is right or wrong. I also don’t approve of anonymous allegations.

I request you once again to commit to fairness and uphold principles of quality journalism otherwise everyone is going to be at loss not only our newspaper but Sikh nation in itself. I hope you will give place to our views in your paper.

(This is the last letter on the Aulakh affair WSN will publish. We have received numerous letters backing both sides but enough has been said on an unimportant issue. Aulakh contrary to his claims was given the opportunity to respond which he for reasons best known to himself declined.

The allegations referred to in S Jasbir Singh’s letter far from being anonymous were the stand of WSN itself. It pains us to be involved in a needless and painful debate involving one man’s inflated ego while thousands of our fellow Sikhs is dying in the battlefield It is time we did something worthy of these brave Sikhs. -Ed)
