NEW DELHI: Indian government has sanctioned an emergency assistance of rs 500 per month in hard currency to every student officially sponsored to study in the erstwhile USSR for the period from December 1991 to march 1992.
Human resource development ‘minister Arjun Singh told the Rajya sabha upper house of parliament) ‘on march 14 that besides, the reserve bank has issued instructions to the banks and foreign exchange dealers to allow parents and guardians of students already studying in the former USSR to remit up to us dollars 50 per month, ‘the minister said. Adding that Rabi has also authorized the purchase of tickets to return from Moscow to Indian in Indian rupees.
‘According to the Indian embassy in Moscow, the heads of government of commonwealth of independent nations had recently decided to reaffirm the corresponding agreements of the former USSR regarding foreign students and to begin working out new documents in this regard, Arjun Singh said,
