A revolutionary electronic pen that translates hand movements into universal codes is now being offered by an Israeli company. The technology is based on the fact that despite differences in writing, or language, every person’s handwriting is composed of some 120 14 different movements.

Applications for this innovative device under development are the Sign Recognizer, a pen based system that translates hand movements into universal codes, permitting computer data entry using handwriting on plain paper, blackboards or any writing surface of and the Fax Pen a pen based system for hand imaging communication in Wide and Local Area Networks and via telephone lines.

Offered by Baron R & D Lid. A subsidiary of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, the el electronic pen enables sending/receiving handwritten messages and drawings in electronic mail and fax formats. The device pen enables three-dimensional control of objects on computer screens, in CAD/CAM software, and virtual reality manipulation.
