MADRAS (PTI): Madras High Court on July 29 restrained the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) from passing any judicial order on any memorandum seeking disqualification of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha, from her membership of the state assembly.
Admitting five writ petitions from the chief minister of this south Indian state, seeking to prohibit CEC T.N.Seshan from adjudicating the complaints received from Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy, and four others, Justice J.Kanakaray said the CEC could receive replies from Jayalalitha to notices issued by the commission. However, he cannot pass any other judicial order, until further orders, the court ruled.
