NEW DELHI (PTI) The Indian election commission will hold elections in three parliamentary and 25 provincial legislative assembly constituencies on June 8. Where polls were earlier countermanded.
A notification to this effect will be issued by the election commission on May 7 and the last date for filing nominations is May 14, lection commission sources said.
Scrutiny will take place on May 15 and withdrawal of nominations on May 18.
The elections were being held in time to ensure that to the m: mum extent practicable, the Electoral College for the election to the office of the president due in July was complete, the sources said. The parliamentary constituencies are New Delhi, Girdih (Bihar), Palani (Tamil Nadu), they added.
