NEW DELHI: The Election Commission said it was studying reports from 39 of its central observers in Punjab on the law and order situation in the wake of recent killings of candidates and the massacre of train passengers in the state.

Deputy election commissioner R P Bhalla told newsmen that though there was no change in the June 22 poll date, the commission was continuously monitoring the situation in the state.

However, Bhalla declined to disclose contents of the reports by central observers.
