BAKERSFIELD: Dr, Manbir Singh MD of “Singh Medical Clinic* Mac Fariand was honored ‘on Aug.25, 1994 at the Red Lion Hotel, Bakersfield at the 5th Annual National JTPA for providing employment opportunities to graduates of Employer’s Training Resource programs. The grand ceremony was attended by US Congressman Mr. Calvin Dooley and Assemblyman 30th district Mr, Jim Costa. Dr. Singh has been awarded Certificate of Recognition from Member of Congress and Member of Assembly respectively for his outstanding community service and participation in the JTPA Ambassador program. Dr. Singh is also awarded Certificate of Recognition for outstanding Ambassador JTPA program from Senator 16th district California Legislature, Also Dr, Singh is selected as an Ambassador of Employer’s Training Resource program for North Kern County Zone, Dr, Singh conveyed a message to all employer’s that in the fast moving society, community service be the order of day.

Besides his profession and community service, Dr. Singh is very popular among his Sikh brothern, Since the Sikh Students have been permitted in wear Kirpan which was mistaken for knife by the fellow students, in August 94, Dr. Singh was presented on TY Channel 23 and explained the difference between (KIRPAAAN) and any other regular knife Dr Singh is active in the Sikh religious matters too. Recently he has represented Bakersfield Gurdwara Sahib ‘on Channel 23 in August 94 and emphasized that Sikh marriage system is the ideal one, he also explained its importance in the today’s world. Dr, Singh is being very active in the local matters and has been conducting weekly Diwan in Delano (place of his residence) since 1988, in the weekly Diwan, more stress is laid on the training of children in Kirtan, Gurbani and knowledge of Sikh history. He also tries to mobilize and unite the Sikh masses of the area. Fortunately, in Aug. 94, he was able to invite Mask in Ji, Prof. Darshan Singh ji and Sh. Manjit Singh, acting head priest of Akal Takhat Sahib. Sikh Sangat of Delano, Bakersfield and surrounding areas could benefit from this opportunity of listening to the Sikh scholars.

He, strongly believes in Panj Kakkars and expresses his concern on young children not adhering to it, with his sincere persuasion, he was able to organize Amrit Parchar during Baisakhi celebration at Bakers field Gurdwara Sahib, where 16 Gursikh including two children were baptized Amrit. Dr. Manbir Singh is a continuous source of inspiration and ChardiKala for the Sikh Sangat in this area. We always pray and carryout Ardas, Waheguru give him strength to continue with the same zeal.
