It is a matter of shame for the Indian intelligence agencies that they should have targeted the 68yearold Sikh leader, Dr. Jagjit Singh, for assault and torture while he landed at the Delhi airport on July 7 to have emergency medical assistance. A score of intelligence men pounced upon the Sikh leader and caused at least 28 different injuries on his body. Such a treatment of a person who is not involved in any case of violence speaks volumes of the low culture of the Indian bureaucrat and political leadership.
The incident clearly reveals once again the fact that Sikhs in India are an object of hatred at the hands of the Indian establishment. Otherwise, there was no reason for the treatment meted out to the elderly Sikh leader well known as a soft spoken and cultured person. The unprovoked attack on Dr. Jagjit Singh is an affront to the entire Sikh nation which deserves to be condemned without reservation by everyone.
