PATNA: The district magistrate of Gopalganj, G. Krishnaiyah, was on Dec.5, lynched near Muzaffarpur by a mob protesting against the killing of Chotan Shukla, who was alleged to have been involved in several criminal cases and was seeking to get an entry into politics.
‘Shukla, who had some time ago thrown his weight behind the victorious Bihar Peoples Party (BPP) candidate, Mrs, Lovely Anand and was seeking to embark upon a political career by joining the BPP, was gunned down along with four supporters by unidentified assailants armed with stengun on Sunday night at Muzaffarpur.
He was dragged out of his car and his head was smashed with bricks and stone. He was declared dead on arrival at the local hospital.
