Sir,
Mr. Purushotam Sharma has given a long list of the battles Hindus have fought for the Temple under dispute (L.A. India Jan.181991). His indicating that Guru Gobind Singh had led one of these battles is not supported in any accounts of the history and the religion of the Sikhs Authors such as Macauliffe Cunningham Gokal Chand Narang Khushwant Singh and Gopal Singh for example and most importantly Guru Gobind Singh himself have not made any mention of such a battle. Guru Gobind Singh does mention Rama and Krishna in the Bachiter Natak. However he refers to them as entities who took birth lived and died like anyone else.
Furthermore Guru Gobind Singh sees no difference in a mosque a temple Puja or Nimaz (Akaal Ustat). He categorically denounced religious intolerance and his sacrifices for universal love stand as monumental testimony. He fought against Vice and Oppression and not for land. Mr.Sharma’s ascribing one of these battles to Guru Gobind Singh is a gross misrepresentation of the mission of the Great Guru. I would appreciate an authentic reference from Mr.Sharma.
