NEW DELHI: Rattled by their dismal failure on the Radu abduction issue, Indian intelligence agencies have launched an aggressive campaign of disinformation to divert public attention.

Stories are being planted almost daily through semi-government news agencies like P.T.I, and U.N.I. and pliable newsmen alleging Pakistan’s hand in the abduction of the Romanian envoy in Delhi.

It is by new well known that the abduction plan was prepared mainly by a group of militants owing allegiance to Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsingh wala and their main demand was for the release of the militants involved in the murder of General A.S.Vaidya and Sant Harchand Singh Longowal.

The actual execution of the plan was done by certain junior militants who had no idea of the international impact of the issue and were evidently surprised at worldwide demand for the release of Liviu Radu. Eventually, senior leaders intervened to have the Romanian Charge d affaires released.

When the Romanian external affairs minister visited Delhi to plead for efforts at political level to secure Radu’s release, the Indian government put the blame on Pakistan and asked the minister to approach Rawalpindi for the purpose. Later the Indian authorities started asking the sympathizers of Radu to get in touch with U.S.A. The aim obviously was to create a psychological atmosphere for the induction of the army into Punjabi which, in any case, was pre-planned more than two months ago. Pakistan embassy twice in a fortnight issued statements denying the reports put out by the Indian official and semi-official media on the Radu issue.

In its latest attempt, the Indian media has carried a story accusing Bhai Daljit Singh, an active member of the Panthic committee, for the abduction. The Indian intelligence could not be unaware of the fact that Bhai Daljit Singh was one of those militants who actually prevailed upon other militants to release Radu.

The Indian intelligence could have gathered a lot of information on the Radu issue from Bhai Devpal Singh but he was evidently deliberately eliminated to bring nothing on record that might interfere with the agencies plans to malign neighboring countries rather than plug their own loopholes.
