Sikhs had attended the fund raising functions of the mayor elect in large numbers whereas, according to a New York ethnic tabloid the Indian community had supported Rudolph Guillaini. The community was prominent at a fund raising dinner by the “Asian Americans for David Dinkins” in the honor of the Democratic Mayor elect on October 18.
As David Dinkins addressed the fund raising dinner, he was flanked by a number of Asian community leaders who included Jagjit Singh Mangat, the President of Sikh Cultural Society and Inder jit Singh.
This is a unique opportunity for the Sikh community to participate in the political and administrative process and every effort will be made to ensure that all those who apply get the best consideration, according to AADA.
