NEW DELHI: Mohan Dharia was Dec 10 appointed deputy chairman of the planning commission and a major reshuffle effected in the top echelons of bureaucracy with elevation of Naresh Chandra as cabinet secretary and moving of S.K. Mishra to the prime minister’s Office as principle secretary.

Naresh Chandra was replaced by the U.P. chief secretary, Bhargava, as the home secretary while S K Mishra, holding charge of the agriculture ministry succeeds B.G.Deshmukh in the prime minister’s office.

Dharia, a longtime associate of the Prime Minister, Chandra Shekhar will hold the rank of a cabinet minister.
