JALANDHAR: The political controversy over whether some Ludhiana Congressmen, including the corporation’s deputy mayor, Prem Mittal and the councilor, Sardul Singh Garewal, had joined the Tiwari faction led by Jagmeet Singh Brar in Punjab, was resolved when both were presented before media persons by Brar here, Some city Congress and Youth Congress activists, including Lasminarain Mehdiratta and Harjinder Singh Ladha, also announced their joining the Congress (Tiwari). The Ludhiana district YC vice-president, Pardeep Jindal, too, joined the party.

Addressing a press conference before presiding over the convention of the party workers which Braralleged had been banned by the government, he said this ‘unannounced ban’ was a precursor to the government’s intention of not allowing his party to hold the district convention in Ludhiana on July 7. He said the 11th district convention to be held at Ludhiana would be attended by the party national general secretary and former union minister, P.Kumaramangalam as observer.
