SRINAGAR: Fourteen persons including a Srinagar district deputy administrator of —Hizbul Mujahedeen were killed and 21 subversives arrested since Monday night in Kashmir valley.

Tariq Ahmad alias general was killed when he was reportedly “testing a newly developed explosive device” at a hideout Rainawari locality of the city Tuesday, the outlawed Hizbul Mujahideen said. It said his death was a vital blow to the militant outfit.
However, official sources said the deceased was killed by a bullet.
The sources said four bullet riddled bodies were recovered from HaranSopore in north Kashmir Tuesday.
“Three persons, all residents of Sopore, were gunned down by militants in the town Monday, an official spokesman said.
He said three militants were killed and six others arrested during exchange of fire between militants and the security forces in Kupwara district Monday. The firing took place during search operations which yielded nine AK47 rifles, 25 magazines, 587 rounds a rocket Launcher, one antitank mine, one antipersonnel mine, two hand grenades and one R.L. sight, the spokesman said.
