LUDHIANA: The Rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday reiterated its demand to deploy the army in sensitive districts and border areas of Punjab “before it was too late” and stop infiltration of arms and trained militants from Pakistan.

Party general secretary Madan Lal Khurana urged the center to Khurana appealed to the prime minister to convene a meeting of a national one and an all-party consensus should be evolved and implemented firmly and sincerely if peace was to be brought in the state.

In a resolution adopted at the meeting of the state working committee here Sunday the party said that all Akali Dals had surrendered before the militants and had accepted their leadership.

He told reporters his party would soon launch a countrywide agitation against the rising prices of essential commodities after the national executive meeting of the party in Trivandrum on September 29 and 30.
