NAGPUR: Significance is being attached to the unscheduled meeting between the RSS chief, Baiasaheb Deoras and the BJP leader, L.K.Advani, here On Oct.16.
The feeling in political circles that the hard-core RSS elements have begun tightening their grip on the BJP is reinforced by the fact that BJP meetings are now being attended by senior BJP leaders of the RSS cadre. The neo-converts may well have to fall in line.
Deoras, who is convalescing after an operation recently, is learned to have expressed his displeasure at the in-fighting in the BJP. He has also indicated that the temple construction at Ayodhya should be fully entrusted to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad irrespective of the political fallout.
Deoras is reportedly not in favor of smaller states. However, the party has been given a free hand to decide the issue as it involves the political fortunes of the BJP.
The two leaders discussed the BJP stand to be adopted on the increasing clamor for statehood in different parts of the country. The BJP working committee scheduled to meet at Bhubaneswar from November 6 will take up the issue,
Deoras is understood to have given his tacit consent to the journalist, Arun Shourie, who urged the RSS workers to assert themselves, warmed them against the Propensity of some BJP leaders to fight among themselves in public,
In fact, Shourie devoted a lot of time to criticizing the petty power struggle in the BJP. The RSS, was the country’s only hope and should be prepared to assume a paternal role in controlling the non-RSS elements in the BJP who have brought the political culture of “self-first” from other political Parties, especially the Congress.
