DHAKA: The Bangladesh youth action council Dec 10 called upon acting president justice Shahabuddin Ahmed to constitute a special tribunal by December 16 to try former President Ershad and his associates.
It also demanded ouster of Ershad from his cantonment residence and stripping him of all facilities enjoyed by him as former president.
Meanwhile Ershad, termed as a “naked lie” reports that he had sought Asylum abroad.
The local daily, Morning Sun on Monday report that general Ershad’s attempt seeking political Asylum in the U.S., U.K, Australia and Pakistan had drawn a blank.
”I have not done any crime and resigned for the cause of the people. This is my motherland. Why I should leave the country, He said in an interview to a foreign agency.
Gen, Ershad who denied that he was under house arrest, said that a citizen of the country he had the right to contest the elections and would participate in the forthcoming election. “I cannot be deprived of my rights in a democratic system.”
