NEW DELHI: Federal home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on Friday said Delhi will be granted full statehood and a bill to this effect will be introduced into parliament during the current session.

Sayeed, who was relying to a query by a BJP member, told the Lok Sabha that it had been decided to grant the status of full statehood to Delhi but certain issues like Law and order and land use remained to be sorted out.

He told Madan Lal Khurana (BJP) that his government would make efforts to ensure that the bill was passed during this session.

Earlier during the day, the house witnessed heated exchanges between BJP and Congress (I) members with both sides sharply differing whether the home minister should make a statement on this before the commencement of the discussion on an adjournment motion on Meham or after the debate
