LONDON, England: The London World Muslim Minority Commission has protested against the judgment passed by Delhi magistrate, in which he stated that “certain teachings of the Holy Quran are dangerous, teach hatred and are likely to drive a wedge between the Muslims and non-Muslims”, in India.
‘The Commission said that thousands of Muslims have died in anti-Muslim riots in India since 1947, mischievous petitions have been submitted to courts for the banning of the Holy Quran, Muslims personal laws have been interfered with as in the Shah Bano case, and Muslim buildings have been taken over.
‘According to the Commission, the Indian judiciary is under the influence of Hindu zealots, whose sworn aim is to eliminate the Muslims from India. The Delhi administration had lodged an FIR: in 1983 against two Hindus for publishing 24 verses of the Holy Quran and distributing the pamphlet among the general public. The Delhi administration had charged that the pamphlet tended to promote communal disharmony oF amounted to outrage the religious feelings of the Muslim community. The case went on for two years, and the two persons have now been acquitted on the strength of the judgment by the Delhi magistrate made public in October, this year.
The World Muslim Minority Commission has asked Muslims throughout the world to protest against the attitude of the Indian judiciary against the basic tenets of Islam, and has asked them not to tolerate such a vicious campaign against Islam.
