From News Dispaches CHANDIGARH: Om Prakash Chautala President of the Haryana Unit of the Janata Dal, yesterday described the defection to the Congress (I) by the so called Janata Dal men at a public meeting of Bansi Lal former Chief Minister at Karnal as a mere “gimmick.”
Chautala told newsmen here that no member of the Janata Dal defected and that the nomination of office-bearers of various district units had not yet been made. Only members of the State Working Committee and the district Presidents had been appointed so far. No membership drive had been launched by his party, he added.
Giving an example, he said Mohan Singh used to be the President of the Ambala unit of the Yuva Lok Dal. When the Lok Dal was split into two he went over to the other side. He was not even a member of the Lok Dal what to talk to the Janata Dal.
