Shortly after assuming Chief Minister ship of Punjab, Sardar Harcharan Singh Brarsaid that maintaining peace in Punjab was his top priority. He said he would do that politically and not by giving freehand to the police as the’ had before. By “free hand” he obviously meant in dealing with “terrorism” and not people as they (the police) like. My fellow Sikhs it’s all a rhetoric.
The fallacy of his above statement is well explained by the fact that when he was making thstatement, internationally known Sikh Human Rights. Activist Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra not a terrorist by any set of imagination and or standards was being abducted from his residence in Amritsar. Needless to say, as whereabouts are ‘still not only unknown, but a mystery in spite of loud outcries of Amnesty International, Human Rights Activists and Parliamentarian Worldwide.
Sardar Harclaran Singh Brar may the a hole to fool some people for some time, some people for all the time (or please as the case maybe) but not the Sikhs, Let me set the record straight, Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra was no terrorist. He was a Sikh in the true sense of the term who was fulfilling his pledge to fight injustice in accordance with the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh, Jr. He would live forever as a martyr and K.P.S, Gill another O’Dwyer of Jallianwalaill fame and who would most certainly go the same way, someday, I hope.
