CHANDIGARH: Lt Gen R.S. Dyal cut short his holidays and left for Port Biar last week to rejoin his post as lieutenant governor of Andaman and Nicobar is lands after it was discovered that Sikh militants were after him.

A Rajput from Haryana, General Dyal was involved in the 1984 operation “Blue Star” at Amritsar which resulted in throws sands of Sikhs being killed.

According to reports here, the militants got in touch with an army dhobi belonging to Tamilnadu assigned to the general to make arrangements for planting bomb in the residence of the officer but the plan leaked out. The security agencies evidently raised their hands in despair and asked the general to return to is safe post in the Bay of Bengal.
